Help a Mom Find Hope and Healing this Mother’s Day

Help a Mom Find Hope Healing Mothers Day2Mother’s Day isn’t happy for everyone.

Did you know?

  • One in four women in the U.S. experience domestic violence.
  • 30-60% of their kids will be abused by that same perpetrator.
  • $201.18 is all it takes to provide a full week of food, shelter, counseling and access to recovery programs for a woman and her children.

What if we we reached out our hands, let them know we see their struggle? What if we showed them they matter and that we won’t stand idly by and allow another mom to hurt without putting up a fight?

Please join me in raising $201.18 this week to give a week of food, shelter and support to a mom in need. Click here to donate.

Funds raised will go to the San Diego Rescue Mission to provide a FULL WEEK of shelter, food, counseling and care for a mom and her kids. It may not be your neighborhood that this will benefit, but if our hearts get tugged to love and support kids across the ocean, why not, this time, stand together for someone here on US soil who is suffering?

We can’t change the world unless we change what we can. And we can help change this, friends.

The woman who gave two coins in the temple was applauded by Jesus as having given more than any of the wealthy spiritual show-offs ever had (see Mark 12:41-44). Anything we can give to support a mom in need in this way is an act of faithfulness and love. . . one that God can multiply in ways we’ll never be able to imagine.

Will you help give the gift of safety and hope to a hurting mom this Mother’s Day?

Here are some links to find out more about domestic violence and what can be done to help people heal:

What you can do:

  • If you suspect abuse of someone you know, call THE NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HOTLINE at 1-800-799-7233 to find out how you can support her.
  • Donate here to help a family get out of the situation and into a place that helps them heal. We’re trying to collect $201.18 by Mother’s Day (May 11) to give the gift of safety, shelter, and support to one mom and her children. Update: We’ve raised $210 as of Thursday, May 8! You are so amazing! Let’s get to TWO weeks by this weekend!!
  • Spread the word! Share on Facebook, Pinterest, wherever you hang out. Here’s one to use: “Join @mylivingpower in giving the gift of safety and hope to a victim of domestic violence this Mother’s Day.” {tweet this}
  • Pray. Pray. Pray. Pray for women to have the courage to leave the one who is hurting them and their kids. Pray against spiritual strongholds of fear, unworthiness, abuse, insecurity and whatever else is keeping them stuck. Pray for the San Diego Rescue Mission and other organizations like it which are standing in the gap for these hurting women and kids. “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results” (James 5:16).

As a THANK YOU for financial support. . .

I’m offering free coaching sessions, discounts toward coaching, and signed copies of my book (which would be a good Mother’s Day gift for someone you know, if you’ve already got a copy of your own!) Don’t miss out on these, but more importantly, don’t miss out on the chance to DO something — to BE the hands and feet of the One who lived, died and rose again to beat evil like this in the world.

Your friend in the fight,
