I just got my first blog award – the Versatile Blogger! Thanks for nominating me, Multiple Mama!
As part of the award, I get to share some of my very favorite things, and my very favorite bloggers. So this week’s post is a celebration of much of what brings joy to my life.
Ten Things I Love:
(in random order)
Listening to up-beat, inspiring music that makes my heart dance. Like this song from Third Day – This is Who I am
A clean kitchen counter. Because it’s my desk and, sadly, often a DMZ of things I need to fix, sign for school, remove from the grip of two fighting siblings, etc. When I’m having a particularly stressful day, I clean it to regain my sanity. My kids know to step AWAY from mom during that time!
Running in the crisp air at a local lake early on Saturday mornings. Preferably with one of my best friends, and with great music cranking from my iPod. Just thinking about it makes me feel alive and strong!
Doing something really ambitious. Because it reminds me life is more than all about my kids, as much as I love ’em. Last week, I wrote my first book proposal – something I’ve wanted to do for years. Boy did that feel great, no matter what happens when I meet with editors next weekend!
Watching my two older, foster/adopt girls show signs of healing. Awe and indescribable joy fill my heart when they emerge from their traumatic history and reach out to others. Kristina at A Joy Walk captured it perfectly:
reach out to the still open wounded
there is no doubt God is Alive.
Nestling my nose in my 2 year old’s sweet-smelling baby-fine curls. It’s like smelling heaven.
Reading something that makes me laugh, cry, or see life in a new way. When I can’t meet with friends in person, experiencing their hearts in their writing is my warm cup of coffee.
Traveling anywhere. I like walking down the block… wind in my face, different sounds, smells and sights than our house. Even better is getting to go on a train or plane someplace farther away. It feels independent, adventurous, and exciting!
Watching movies with my Hubs and doing Mystery Science Theater impersonations as we laugh and comment on lame scenes or goofy cinematography.
Listening to stand-up comedy that makes me laugh so hard my sides hurt. There’s nothing like a good laugh to spit in the face of a hard day! Favorites: Brian Regan and Richard Jenny.
Ten of my favorite bloggers, who I nominate for this award, listed by what I love about them:
(again, random order)
That’s my list. Now it’s your turn! What are your favorite things in life these days?
